FAVORITE BASEBALL PLAYER GROWING UP: Jose Canseco

Chris Bernal is a highly respected figure in South Texas baseball, bringing decades of playing and coaching experience to the Wildcatters organization. A standout at CC Moody High School (1993-1996), he played a key role in the team’s 1994 State Runner-Up finish and 1996 State Semi-Finalist appearance.

With 17 years of travel ball coaching experience, Coach Bernal has dedicated his career to developing young athletes. In 2011, he helped launch the Citius Organization’s youth program, leading multiple teams to national #1 rankings. Over the past nine years, he has been instrumental in guiding South Texas players to the next level, helping them secure opportunities to play D1, D2, and JUCO baseball.

Now serving as the South Texas Director and 2026 High School Head Coach for the South TX Wildcatters, Coach Bernal continues his mission of player development and mentorship. His passion for the game extends beyond coaching, as his own son, Chris Bernal Jr., is a Division 1 catcher at the University of Houston, exemplifying the hard work and dedication he instills in his players.
